Entries to the solo piping and highland dancing competitions at this year’s Cowal highland Gathering are now closed.
Competitor numbers for the highland dancers will be sent out in late July along with their passes.
Draw lists and competitor passes will also be sent to all solo piping competitors at the end of July.

Just a quick reminder that the closing date for the dancing and solo piping competitions is approaching quickly.
The last date for entries is the 1st July 2010 and absolutely no entries will be accepted after this date. Please make sure you enter is plenty of time and do not risk forgetting and missing the deadline by leaving it to the last minute.
For those of you who have already entered you should have received an email confirming your entry has been processed. If you have not had a confirmation e-mail please contact the office.

I am pleased to confirm that the entry forms for this year’s solo piping competitions will be available on www.cowalgathering.com from 12 noon (BST) on Monday 26th April.
I can also confirm that the C grade competition, which was successfully introduced in 2009, will once again be part of the 2010 Gathering.
The closing date for entries has been set for the 1st July and absolutely no entries will be accepted after this date.
We look forward to receiving your entries and seeing at Cowal in August.

I would like to wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.
It may only be the first week in January but plans for this year’s Cowal Gathering are already at an advanced stage and i thought it it would be appropriate to update everyone on some important dates.
Seating and admission tickets will go on sale via the website in mid February, with the dancing entries going online in mid March. The solo piping forms will be available via the website in mid April. The exact dates will be confirmed nearer the time in a blog and on the website.
More blogs will follow confirming all important dates and deadlines and updating you with what you can expect to see at this year’s Cowal Highland Gathering.

for the solo piping and dancing competitions is Wednesday 1st July at 11.59pm. At this time the forms will be removed from the website and it will no longer be possible to enter these events.

Entry forms for this years competition at Cowal will go live on our website (www.cowalgathering.com) at noon on 20th April. They will close again on the 1st July.
This year sees some exciting changes to the competition as we introduce a C grade competition to the senior event. Aimed at those making the difficult step from juvenile competition to the senior grades; we hope that this will be a popular event. However in its first year we have limited the number of places available to 20 and these will be allocated to the first 20 entries received.
In the juvenile competition we have made the difficult decision to suspend the chanter competition due to the very low numbers received in recent years, 5 entries in 2 years, and replaced it with a local novice juvenile competiton which we hope will attract more entries.

Welcome to the Cowal Gathering’s first blog….. Wow are we moving into the 21st century or what.
Plans for this year’s event are really moving forward!
Dancing entries are coming in thick and fast and the move to a random draw for the dancing order seems to have been very well accepted. It is a much fairer way for the order to be decided and means that those who could not be online when it goes live are not disadvantaged,
It also means our overseas competitors no longer have to get up in the middle of the night to enter. I always felt so sorry for the Canadian and American dancers who got up at 4am to submit their form. Now it is only us in the office that need to lose sleep over the entry process.
Solo Piping entries will go live on the 20th April and i am really pleased to confirm there will be a c grade competition for the seniors this year. Although there are only 20 places available and they will go to the first 20 to enter. So dont wait to enter get your form in as soon as they go live.
