Unfortunately this system would be unworkable as the finalists for the Saturday are not known until the friday afternoon of the event. As such dancers could not be asked to purchase tickets by a specified date as they would have no way of knowing if they would qualify or not. It would also be very difficult to allocate tickets after the results of the qualifiers are known.
Also, If as suggested, seats equating to the average number of entries in the qualifying round in the previous year were set aside more than 50% of the grandstand seats would be held over for dancers and not all of them would want or require these seats whilst others who did want/require seats may not have the opportunity to get them. This system would not be any more equitable than the current first come first served system operated at present whereby competitors, teachers and spectators all know exactly when the seats go on sale and have the same chance of getting a seat as everyone else.

A new feature for 2010 is that we have a large screen TV coming to Cowal to make it easier for people who are not in the grandstand to watch the dancing live on the Saturday.

I think every dancer entered in the world's qualifying round should have the option to purchase by a specified date one grandstand or enclosure ticket for the final event on Saturday. Should the dancer qualify, either a relative, friend or teacher should be able to watch or if the dancer does not qualify, the dancer can watch the world finals. Tickets totaling, for example, the average of the qualifying round entries for the last few years could be set aside for the finalists' to purchase.
